Surrounded by 360-degree views of farmland, the Moonlight Vista is the quintessential home for its new owners. Built for a Western Colorado lifestyle, comfort and functionality are high on the list of design priorities. From the outside in, efficient use of space is crucial for storing bikes, skis and SUV’s. Just under 3 acres allows space for horses and a soccer field. Inside, large picture windows create a backdrop of peaceful views in the main living area. Natural travertine stone and contemporary grey plaster adorn a sophisticated fireplace in a living room meant for relaxation and family time. Entertaining and hospitality are at the heart of this home design. A chiseled granite island serves as a classic Colorado centerpiece for the kitchen. A spacious outdoor patio will host many fiestas amidst views of the full moon rising to music and laughter around the firepit. The split floor plan provides for a luxurious master en suite, complete with a private entrance from the hot tub and a substantial walk-in closet suitable for any wardrobe. A home gym doubles as a guest room, allowing for flex space for time spent at home.
Unique features include an elevated reading loft and built-in bookshelves in the study. Industrial metal accents add an edginess to the traditional, rustic timbers incorporated throughout the design. Dramatic bathroom tiles are offset by sleek, black fixtures and hardware. Timeless design meets modern trends in the Moonlight Vista.

“Building to the Highest Standards.”
Carlos Ruiz began his career in construction in the Dallas area over 20 years ago and was owner of a successful framing business. When Carlos and his wife Nicole moved home to Western Colorado in 2009, Carlos had the opportunity to work for a major local builder, where he learned the full scope of the residential building process. Simultaneously, he studied and earned a degree in Construction Technologies and Supervision from Colorado Mesa University as his family began to grow. Previous education included 4 years of Philosophy in a Seminary in Mexico. Eager to bring together his textbook knowledge and years of practical experience in construction, Carlos seized the opportunity to accomplish his dream of becoming a builder, launching Alta Home Builders.
Nicole later joined the Alta Home Builders team, shifting gears after a 14-year career in ministry and advocacy in the non-profit sector. Her degrees are in Great Books and Theology from the University of Notre Dame. Nicole is the owner/broker of Independence Real Estate, and also manages sales, design and marketing for Alta.
Core values of their business include hard work, honesty, professionalism and meeting high standards. Carlos and Nicole strive to bring to life design ideas that make each unique house stand out and feel like a home. Alta is currently building quality homes in subdivisions including Garden Vine and Desert Peach Subdivision, among others.
